DIRECTOR, ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES - HOSPITAL

Reports To: Systems Director

Schedule:  Full time; primarily Monday through Friday 1st shift.  Must be able to work rotating weekends/holidays as needed.  More details are available upon interviewing.

Job Summary

As the Director of Environmental Services, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Housekeeping Department in a small 28 bed acute care hospital setting.  You will be responsible for successfully coordinating and supporting all activities of the department, working with all levels of the facility staff in matters relating to the cleanliness of the facility, and leading a team of 8 frontline associates.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, trains, develops, and coaches frontline associates while mentoring staff to encourage creativity and innovation
  • Oversees departmental financial data and expenditures while developing, recommending, and ensuring adherence to the operating budget
  • Coordinates housekeeping activities and maintains active communication with administration and other hospital departments
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the departments
  • Establishes work standards and work flow
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
  • Ensures regulatory compliance while demonstrating quality leadership to proactively achieve facility goals, performance plans, and Total Quality Management (TQM) standards
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions for departmental staff and promotes participation in ongoing education programs

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of environmental services or housekeeping management experience in a hospital, senior living, or hotel environment; Associate’s degree or equivalent related experience
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data
  • General business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills with a strong customer service and quality‑focused mindset
  • Effective leadership and organizational abilities, including participative staff management, strong administrative and follow‑through skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet goals
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
